And, it’s Kris Allen who took home the crown of American Idol for the eighth season of the most popular American reality TV show. The announcement left many shocked, including Kris Allen himself. The scintillating two hour season finale was held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles where host Ryan Seacrest made the announcement.

The final results also took Kris by complete surprise and upon hearing it he was at complete loss of words. The 23 year old, with very twinkling eyes said, “Are you serious? Are you friggin’ serious? It feels good man, but Adam deserves this. I’m sorry”. As Kris was not ready for such results, being sure of Adam’s success which was expected by media and also a large number of fans, so he also committed “I don’t even know what to feel right now. This is crazy. Thank you so much.”

It’s be the most cherishing moment of Kris’s life when Ryan Seacrest gave the trophy, in the shape of an old fashioned microphone , in his hands. He’s the first ever winner of the American Idol to receive the official trophy, especially designed. The runner-up Adam Lambert, 27, the hot favorite of the season though he failed to make it to the end, congratulated him by giving him a quick handshake and a hug. Kris brought the eighth season of American Idol to an end by singing the Kara DioGuardi co-written winner’s song, “No Boundaries”. In order to make the occasion memorable and rocking one, certain astounding guest performances were given by renowned celebrities such as Steve Martin, Rod Stewart and KISS. Kara DioGuardi and Katrina Darrell gave a duet performance. David Cook, the last year winner, also made an appearance to burn the stage. As per the records, the season finale got 100 million votes, taking the total no. of votes throughout the season to 624 million.

It was Tuesday. Rehearsal for the season 8 episodes of American Idol TV show was being followed through and a mishap occurred. Ultimately, the whole process was brought to an end. A stage manager suffered a serious injury while making arrangements to prepare the sets for the live show. The injured member of American Idol crew is named Debbie Williams, and she fell down from a flight of retractable stairs. The accident left her with a deep gash, down to the bone, and she was immediately sent to the hospital for treatment. The official statement released about the accident is “During rehearsal today, a crew member had a mishap on set and was immediately taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. We have no further information at this time”.

In order to make matters worse, a large tower also fell over and the shattered pieces of glass were seen flying around the stage. It all happened two hours before the live telecast of the show, on the stage on which the host, Ryan Seacrest, walks.

As of now, the eighth season of American Idol is on air. Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson are serving as the judges and once again, Ryan Seacrest is hosting the show. The number of remaining contestants of this season is three, namely - Adam Lamber, Kris Allen and Danny Gokey.

Till the minute of the news, Top 4 got reduced to Top 3, after the round ‘Rock Music’, in which each of the contestants gave a solo performance, and a duet performance with another contestant. The performances were in the following manner:

Allison Iraheta got eliminated in this round, reducing the no. of remaining contestants to three. The next round would of ‘Judge’s Choice/Contestant’s Choice’ in which the remaining contestants would have to sing two songs.

Though the mishap brought a little stop to things, but life has to continue on ‘American Idol’.

Fellas American Idol is back with its 8th season and my bunch of friends got together to watch its season premier on January 13, 2009. Personally, I enjoy the auditions the most because you tend to see the most bizarre and colorful characters on auditions. The actual competition is much more serious business but initial episodes of the season are always fun.

It was good to see that another judge, Kara DioGuardi has been added to the panel and for a change there is a judge who can actually sing. I heard Kara DioGuardi was nominated for a Grammy which means that she can actually make healthy contribution towards judging the show and is not merely here in case a judge has to enter a rehab or something of the sort. Of course there will be others like Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, Ryan Seacrest and awful lot of others who can’t sing.

The first auditions were at Phoenix, Arizona. It’s amazing that even the tough competition does not deter the weirdos from turning up for the first round. There was this fellow Elijah Scarlett, a 22 year old who sang My First, My Last, My Everything by Barry White and was advised by Paula to do voice overs for monster movies.

That was not all; Aundre Caraway came with his guitar and sang a song about a cactus. His nick name was X-Ray which suited him coz it sounded as stupid as he was. Another boy Eric Thomas had even a dumber nick name. Guess what? He called himself Sexual Chocolate.

There was this bikini girl, Katrina Darrell who got more attention than she deserved and since she had warned Ryan that she was going to give him a kiss if she got through, he hid but she managed to find him and rest is history.

But people like Scott Macintyre are inspiration. He was born almost completely blind and it led him to explore music. He did not let his disability to hold him back and his entry to Hollywood was pretty smooth with Billy Joel’s song ‘And So It Goes’

Hey!!!! So the wait is over and its time to rock with David Cook, with his debut album. This is not hidden from anybody that he has joined 19 Recordings\ RCA Recordings after winning American Idol. Now these guys have thrown some light over Cook’s new upcoming album. It’s coming on November 18, 2008. It means, on this New Year celebration, you will rock on David Cook’s taps and beats. Get ready for a musical new year.

I know David Cook had released an album before participating in American Idol as well. But this will be his first mainstream album. I hope this will also be able to touch the strings of your heart, like the previous album ‘Analog Heart’.

Do you know one interesting thing about this guy? He came to American Idol auditions to support his half brother Andrew, who insisted that David should also try his luck in auditions and the luck fairy spread her charm over David. Andrew didn’t get selected for Hollywood round, but David made to it. And no need to tell about rest of his journey to American Idol crown.

He had a tough childhood as well as youth. During his childhood, his Parents’ divorce and his father’s second marriage disturbed him a lot and threw him into the lap of music to wipe his tears. It was then that a musician and a singer took his first step. He struggled and struggled to achieve an identity in the music world. He performed with bands, in parties and other occasions in the hunger of fame and to make both ends meet. Finally he got succeeded in that with releasing his first album Analog Heart.

Now his hard earned fame has made it an obligation for him that he has to work hard to sooth his fans’ ears. His new albums first single will be ‘The Time of My Life’. As per the previews, the song is not gonna do that blast as expected. But being a fan I don’t trust these critical previews and I have faith that if its David’s voice then it’s gonna be perfect hit. Secondly, an album’s success can’t be judged on the basis of a single. I am desperately waiting for its release and let me check on You Tube as well. May be I can get a bit of that in advance.
