You will be surprised to know that initially, Simon had done a few low profile jobs too but he couldn’t go along well with his co-workers and bosses. Due to this, his father managed to get him a job in the mail room of EMI Music Publishing Company. His father was an executive in this very successful recording company. Then he started getting promotions steadily. In 1980s he left this company to begin a new project with his boss at EMI. After a year, he left to work with Lain Burton for eight years. He is the manager of choreographer Arlene Phillips, co-founder of dance group Hot Gossip and a record label Fanfare Records. It was while working with Burton that Simon achieved the real success in music industry. Fanfare has many popular hits of pop artists in its baggage.
In 1984, both Simon and Burton joined Peter Waterman and trio made a songwriting and record producing project named Stock Aitken Waterman. This helped Fanfare a lot in getting more and more hits being added to its profile. But unfortunately in 1989, this company saw its bad time and went in possession of BMG, where Simon worked as consultant to get rid of debt. After some struggle, Simon came back on the old track of success in recording industry. Later on people started inviting him to be a judge in reality shows and this introduced him to TV viewers and he is now most talked about person in media and music industry.
