Career and life- Paula is a Grammy award winning American Pop singer and a two time Emmy award winning Choreographer besides being an actress and a television personality. She is judge on American Idol, since its first season. She is also a judge on a UK talent show ‘The X-factor’. She says she was inspired after watching Gene Kelly in a classic film “Singin’ in The Rain”. After which she began taking training for dance and her talent won scholarship to a dance camp at the age of fifteen. She was part of a famous cheerleading group ‘Laker Girls’ at California State University and three months after joining it she became head choreographer. So after University she started concentrating upon her choreography career.
She has choreographed for many singers and artists till now. In 80s she worked for Janet Jackson. In 1995, she released her dance work out video named “Paula Abdul’s Get Up And Dance!” and also “Cardio Dance” in 1998 and “Cardio Cheer”in 2005.
She also lent her choreography talent in movies like ‘Big’, ‘Coming To America’, ‘The Running Man’, ‘Jerry McGuire’ and ‘American Beauty’.
She started her singing career in 1988. As she released her pop debut album “Forever Your Girl”. Her album set a record for being in the market for the longest time until hitting number one on Billboard 200 album sales chart. ‘Opposites Attract’ is her Grammy Award winning video.
During 90’s she released many successful albums. She was married to Emilio Estevez from 1992 to 1994 and she is former daughter-in Law of actor Martin Sheen. After that she married a sportswear designer Brad Beckerman in 1996 and they got divorced in 1998.
In 2000, due to some personal and professional problems, she took a break from music industry. Being a judge on American Idol, she became popular as the most sympathetic and nice judge among the three. It is learnt that she realized that Simon Cowell’s harsh judging style was heart breaking for many contestants, so she once decided to leave the show. But Cowell convinced her to stay on the show.
Recently, Corey Clark, a contestant stated that he was having an affair with Paula during the show and that’s why she was favoring him on the show. He also said that for the same reason he was kicked out of the show. Paula remained reluctant towards commenting upon his allegations. But later on due to unavailability of any strong evidence to support Clark’s statements, Media dropped this gossip.
