Life and Career- Kelly belongs to a very simple American family. Her mother was first grade teacher and her father, a former engineer. Her whole family split after their divorce. After this, her brother Jason decided to stay with his father, and her sister Alyssa chose to live with their aunt, whereas Clarkson decided stayed with her mother.
Her talent for singing was discovered in her school by a teacher, while she was singing in the hallway. Her teacher asked her to go for auditions for school choir. After this participation, Kelly got encouraged and she contemplated taking singing as a career. She started classical training in anticipation of financial aid by winning scholarship for college. Otherwise, she wanted to become a Marine Biologist.
Meanwhile, her mother married a contractor, Jimmy Taylor. This American Idol did many menial jobs, before stepping into music world. She mowed lawns, built porches along with her contractor step-father and even sold vacuums door to door. Then, at the age of sixteen, she moved to Los Angeles. During her high school graduation, she was offered scholarship for some Universities in Texas. But she postponed the idea, as she had already done a lot in the field of music.
When her destiny brought her to American Idol auditions and she was selected, who knew that this girl would become the first American Idol? Among all the American Idols, she is the most successful singer in music industry. She won the title by beating Justin Guarini by 58% votes.
Immediately after becoming American Idol, she performed on “A Moment Like This”, which became the most popular single of her debut album “Thankful” also. This song was specifically written for the winner of American Idol in advance. The music video for this song was filmed at famous Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. This video included short clips of her performance on Idol. This number traveled from number fifty two to number one at Billboard Hot 100 Chart after its release in October 2002 and remained on number one in Canada for five weeks.
As it is said that success and controversies go together, Clarkson also got into one after her win. It was disclosed by media that she was working for a record deal during her participation in the contest. But later it was found that it was a contract for demonstration work only.
Recently her co-writer and guitarist Aben Eubanks alleged that somebody has stolen songs of their new under production album from his personal webspace and has left several demos on internet.
After becoming Idol she also acted in a movie “From Justin To Kelly” along with the runner up Justin Guarini. The film was not very successful and hardly recovered half of its budget and couldn’t impress critics even.
But her albums and concerts helped her to continue ruling hearts of her fans. Her second popular album was “Breakaway” in 2004. She kept on changing the genres in her albums like pop, rock and country music. Her third popular album is “My December”. Its first single “Never Again” was first aired on radio on April 13, 2007. It remained at number eight at Billboard Hot 100 chart and at number five on Pop 100 chart.
